Please note that comments - or lack of comments - following the name of a web site in the list below does not indicate any endorsement or reproof of the web site.  Most of the synopses are supplied by (or taken from) the web sites themselves.  Some web sites may appear in more than one category, when appropriate.

Some of my favorite daily news sources

Since my interest is in political and cultural news — as opposed to sports, celebrities' birthdays and other meaningless fluff and filler — I sift through these sites almost every day:

News media critics and media watchdogs

If you're concerned about Media Bias, you should visit the Media Bias Page and then check out these web sites:

Conservative Truth:  If you're tired of the same old liberal slant that the major media give to the news, you'll find Conservative Truth a breath of fresh air.  Did you know that 92% of the producers, anchors, editors and reporters that decide what news you are allowed to see are registered to vote either as Democrats or Socialists?  100% of the Editorial Staff of Conservative Truth are Conservative Republicans or Libertarians.

Accuracy in Media  is a non-profit, grassroots citizens watchdog of the news media that critiques botched and bungled news stories and sets the record straight on important issues that have received slanted coverage.

American Decency Association  is a 501(c)3, nonprofit, tax-deductible Christian based organization encouraging citizens to guard their hearts, minds, and souls from the degrading, desensitizing impact of entertainment and advertising that in a variety of ways demeans men, women and children.

The Boring Institute was created in 1984 as a way to spoof the media and the way they cover celebrities, films, television, politics and sports.

Common Conservative is dedicated to the average American, who wants their politics clear and straight-up, without the CNN talking-heads butting in after ten words. If you despise Bill Clinton's Democrats, and think the GOP should win every election, stop by and visit us.

Media Research Center "Bringing Political Balance and Responsibility to the Media."

Morality in Media, Inc.  is a national, not-for-profit, interfaith organization established in 1962 to combat obscenity and uphold decency standards in the media.

National Anxiety Center: Information to refute the "crisis" news you often see in the national news media.

Rather Biased:  Over 500 statements from America's most politicized journalist.

Smarter Times: Daily web publication dedicated to exposing the inadequacies and inaccuracies of the New York Times.

V-Dare  has come into existence because many great and developing issues of the day are no longer covered in the establishment media -- whether liberal or "conservative."  (Numerous interesting links, too.)

Suppressed News:  We publish what others suppress.  "The popular news media bray continuously about the glories of diversity," they say, "yet the media themselves are the most non-diverse conglomerate in the country.  To consult one popular source is to consult them all.  Most large daily newspapers, for instance, are just glorified telecommunications terminals automatically printing what is relayed to them from the orthodox opinion makers in New York and Washington.  There is virtually no independence, they are single-mindedly liberal:  anti-white, anti-male, and anti-Christian.  Our concern is that, because of this, most readers miss so much that is important in the daily happenings of the world, both locally and across the country, and both with respect to facts and to opinion.

The Constitution Party formerly the U.S. Taxpayers' Party.

Council for Government Reform "Serving the Overburdened Taxpayer"

The Forced Altruism Scam:  Altruism is a philosophy whereby a person who sees someone in need, makes a decision to help that person.  The major difference between that and "forced altruism" is force.  Where an outside agency, usually the government, forcibly takes money and property from the person who has earned it and gives it, unearned, to someone who has not.

International Center for Pension Reform:  Founded by José Piñera to promote the reform of government-run pension systems along the Chilean model of private Retirement Savings Accounts.  In other words, it's a web site that deals with Social Security privatization.

Environmental news, policy and opinion

Center for the Study of Carbon Dioxide and Global Change

Environmental Conservation Organization  is a membership organization, consisting of individuals and organizations in America and 14 foreign countries.  We believe the environment includes human beings who prosper or perish as the result of their stewardship of natural resources.  We reject the notion that the environment is "fragile" and must be protected from human use by massive federal and international regulations.

Fossil Fuels:  Whether using coal to make most of the world’s electricity, petroleum as the lifeblood of transportation or, along with natural gas, as a feedstock for myriad industrial and commercial uses, fossil fuels are keys to our industrial evolution.

Foundation for Research on Economics and Environment:  FREE advances conservation and environmental values by applying modern science and America's founding ideals to policy debates.  We are intellectual entrepreneurs, explaining how economic incentives, secure property rights, and responsible prosperity can foster a healthy environment.  While our seminars are explicitly pro-environment, they explain why ecological values are not the only important ones.  We stress that trade-offs among competing values are inescapable.  We show why it is ethically and materially irresponsible to pretend such choices can be avoided.

Free Market Environmental networkRoom: Information for the free-market environmental movement.

Green Watch details the activities and funding of liberal environmental organizations.

Greening Earth Society promotes the idea that carbon dioxide isn't bad for the environment at all.

General politics

The American Spectator:  It remains uncertain exactly what this web site is all about, but it looks somewhat interesting.  They seem to think it's "an exhilarating monthly excursion to the heart and soul of the New Economy and the New Political Reality."  Whatever that means.

Capital Research Center, established in 1984 to study non-profit organizations.

Dan & Allison's Patriotic Page: Many interesting links.

Deb's Excellent Political Pages, which is where I read about
